110 athletes from eight nations spent the weekend in Kandersteg as part of the international Alpencup. The Swiss team is among the front runners. It was also a successful first international appearance for local Noah Studer.
The Swiss ladies in particular were able to capitalise on their home advantage on the Kandersteg ski jumps. They were able to shine with a second place from Sina Arnet (Nordic Engelberg) and a third place from Emely Torazza (SC Riedern) on both competition days. It was only the overall leader in the Alpencup, Tina Erzar from Slovenia, who jumped further twice and won the competitions on both Saturday and Sunday. Juri Kesseli from SC Einsiedeln led the Swiss Ski men's team and finished in 6th place on Saturday. With jumps of 104 and 109 metres, he was able to confirm his sensational form with the day's victory on Sunday. The men's competitions on Saturday were decided between the two Austrians Simon Steinberger and Fabian Held and Jannik Faisst from Germany. Sunday's podium was completed by Jannik Faisst from Germany and Johannes Pölz from Austria.
Kandersteg's young hopeful Noah Studer performed well on both competition days at the highest international junior level and gained valuable experience. As the fifth-best Swiss ski jumper on Saturday and seventh-best on Sunday, he confirmed his place in the line-up. The support of the local spectators in the Swisscom Nordic Arena gave the young athlete additional motivation. Noah Studer is already looking forward to the upcoming medal hunt at the Swiss Championships on 21-22 October 2023 in Kandersteg.
